Piqeras Beach (Ohara) in Albania

Piqeras Beach (Ohana) — Car camping by the sea near Borsh Beach

Piqeras Beach is a small beach located between Bunec and Borsh beaches.

Along the coast from Borsh beach to Piqeras the distance is about 200 meters, but by road it is several kilometers.

A dirt road leads to the beach from the coastal highway of Albania.

You can also walk along the seashore from either side — I personally walked along the seashore.

Shore at Piqeras Beach: Overview

Piqeras Beach is a shore 10 to 30 meters wide and 400 meters long.

You can walk along the seashore in either direction — the beach is “pass-through,” not a dead end.

The coastline is made up of coarse Albanian sand and small pebbles.

Left Edge of the Beach

On the left side, the shore ends at a cliff that partially blocks movement.

Here are travelers in cars resting by the sea.

Shore Beyond the Cliff on the Left

Along the shore on the left, you have to walk about 100 meters knee-deep in water.

Important: the section is short and easily passable barefoot (or in sandals).

Then the coastline stretches about 500 meters south to Bunec Beach.

Center of the Beach

In the center of the beach, there is a small café and a road where cars are parked.

The beach is interesting because some people drive up to the shore and live by the sea in tents.

Right Edge of the Beach

On the right side, the coastline narrows and is closed off by cliffs and the sea.

Beyond the cliff, the coastline features interesting mountain layers slanting into the sea.

Important: you can walk along the shore to Borsh Beach without getting your feet wet.

This narrow coastline near the cliff stretches about 100 meters. Then Borsh Beach begins.

How the Beach is Useful

The beach is used by auto-tourists for seaside rest on wheels.

The sound of the sea calms the nervous system, and the open space helps with thinking and relaxing the eye nerves.

When a person looks into the distance, the eye muscles relax.

Summary: the beach is suitable for those who want to calm their nerves and stabilize their health.

How to Reach Piqeras Beach

A narrow dirt road leads to Piqeras Beach. It connects the highway to the shore.

You’ll have to park near the only road between the mountain and the beach.

Piqeras Beach is small, and only a limited number of cars can park there.

P.S. The author walked the coastline route from Lukove Beach to Borsh Beach. Did not drive specifically to this beach. The actual condition of the dirt road to the shore is unknown to me.

Who Might Find Piqeras Beach Interesting

Piqeras Beach is interesting for car travelers with off-road vehicles.

You’ll have to:

  • cook food yourself;
  • arrange overnight stays;
  • live in tents;
  • generate electricity;
  • hide from the summer heat during the day.

Living near the shore is not easy, but it’s interesting. Nature and the sea are great distractions from city life.

As a bonus, there will be:

  • the sound of the sea and seagulls;
  • views of the sea and mountains;
  • beautiful sunsets and sunrises on the shore;
  • sea rest, swimming, and a good tan;
  • recovery of the nervous system.

Summary: overall, the beach is for those who enjoy overcoming challenges and living in nature by the sea.
