Qeparo Beach, Albania — Quiet Escape by the Sea with Photos & Tips
Qeparo Beach is located near the village of the same name. The stress is on the last syllable.
There are two roads leading to the beach — one along the coast and the other from central Albania.
Qeparo Beach: Central Square
Qeparo Beach stretches along the sea for about 2 km.
The first impression of the beach: cozy, tidy, and spacious.
Public (free) sections alternate evenly with private ones.
The main highlight of the beach is its promenade with unique lanterns in an old-style design.
The promenade is paved with stone tiles and lined with a medieval-style curb.
The centerpiece of the promenade is a small square at the entrance, with a tall tree in the middle.
Cozy Restaurants Along the Beach
Numerous restaurants with a variety of food and drinks are located along the promenade.
Near the restaurants in the middle of the promenade, four mulberry trees grow.
In early June, there were plenty of berries.
We tried them and liked them. They quench thirst well in the summer.
Shore Features
Qeparo Beach is pebbly — a mix of small and large pebbles.
Along the seabed runs a 3-4 meter wide strip of small boulders, creating a natural difficulty when entering the water.
Important: a 3-meter boulder strip runs along the seabed of Qeparo Beach.
Beyond this strip, the seabed is sandy.
At a distance of 10 meters from the shore, the water depth is about 1 meter.
Tip: it’s best to swim with water shoes.
Left Side of the Beach
From the central part, the beach extends about 300 meters to the left.
The left side of Qeparo Beach has stones and small pebbles.
The beach gradually narrows and ends in this area.
Right Side of the Beach
To the right, the beach stretches for about 1 km along the sea.
This part alternates between public and private sections.
The shore and seabed are covered with small and large pebbles.
Pebble Beach Near a Dry Riverbed
At one point, the promenade crosses a dry riverbed via a bridge.
On both sides of the riverbed, two machine gun bunkers were built during the era of Enver Hoxha.
The shore here is made up of large pebbles, and the seabed has many large, oval, slippery stones.
We swam in this spot wearing water shoes.
Tip: use special swimming shoes to minimize the risk of injury.
Beach Near Hotel Valta
After the public section of the shore, you’ll find Hotel Valta.
The beach around it is a model of order.
There are standard sunbeds, as well as wooden platforms just one meter from the water’s edge.
Beach features:
- shore: coarse sand with small pebbles;
- seabed: fine pebbles and sand;
- gentle entry into the sea: at 15 meters from shore, the depth is about 1.2 meters.
I really liked this beach and the sea — the water is incredibly clean and refreshing.
Hotel Valta
Hotel Valta looks aesthetically pleasing and enhances this part of the beach.
Pink flowers along the Qeparo promenade add to the charm of the landscape.
In spring, the atmosphere around the hotel is very quiet.
You can only hear birds chirping.
Beach Behind the Hotel
Behind Hotel Valta are public and private beaches.
You can stay at the public beach for free.
Private beach spots are paid.
Prices range from 8 to 15 euros for 2 sunbeds and an umbrella, depending on proximity to the sea.
Shore features:
- coarse sand mixed with soft yellow sand;
- seabed with soft, fine yellow sand.
Advantages of this far end of Qeparo Beach:
- this part of the coast has parking;
- the sandy seabed starts right from the shoreline;
- the entry into the sea is gentle: at 20 meters from the shore, the water depth is 1 meter.
Summary: the far end of Qeparo Beach is perfect for holidays with small children.
I saw a family who had set up a tent on the sand and were enjoying a peaceful vacation with a little child.
Trailer Camping
Along the beach, there are several paid parking spots for trailers and a tent campground.
Trailer parking costs about 20 euros per day. Prices may vary depending on the month and demand.
There is a home-style restaurant, a lawn with trimmed grass and trees, and a children’s playground.
In early June, there were about a dozen different trailers on the field.
People had set up tables and chairs, chatting, enjoying the sea breeze, and listening to birdsong.
An idyllic setting for those who want a nature getaway by the sea.
What Makes Qeparo Beach Special
The beach offers:
- a beautiful promenade along the entire coastline;
- a variety of shore types: large and small pebbles, clean sand, and a mix of both;
- many restaurants with traditional food and drinks for every taste;
