Green Coast Beach — Relax by Albania’s Karaburun Peninsula
Green Coast Beach is an Ionian coastline stretching 500 meters south of Karaburun.
Main Green Coast Beach
The name Green Coast Beach comes from the namesake cottage complex.
The entire coastline at the foot of Karaburun is occupied by low-rise cottages.
Beach features:
-
Blue Flag certified beaches for pollution;
-
guarded entrance to the cottage village territory;
-
sandy shore, and the seabed is coarse sand with small pebbles;
-
the entry into the sea is gentle with a slight rise near the water.
There are stunning coastal panoramas of the Karaburun mountains here.
Independent Blue Flag Examination
Each section of the Green Coast shoreline has been checked by independent BLUE FLAG experts.
The check includes examination for feces and other sea water pollution.
After the inspection, blue shields with actual results are installed on the beaches.
Beach Infrastructure
The complex is located right next to Mount Karaburun.
Inside the complex, there’s a network of modern roads, parking lots, and sidewalks.
Along the main promenade there is useful infrastructure.
These are dozens of restaurants, trendy boutiques, pharmacies, gyms, and ATMs.
Near the entrances, there is round-the-clock security on duty.
Important: There are sections of the shore that are free and accessible to everyone.
Electric carts of various capacities from 4 to 8 people circulate around the complex.
Excursions to Karaburun
Any tourist can order a private excursion along Karaburun.
Prices for excursions here are among the highest compared to other places in Albania.
The cost of a trip — 300 euros per person — left me a bit shocked.
The common price in major Albanian cities is about 30 euros during the season.
By boat, you can visit famous tourist spots along the Karaburun coast.
Beach near ZUKA café
Near ZUKA café is the last private beach in the row, with umbrellas and cozy gazebos.
The café is the last in the line and closes off the equipped part of the Green Coast coastline.
I saw many happy people enjoying swimming, relaxing with families on the shore.
Public Beach
Beyond the pier, public and private beaches alternate.
Important to know: by law, on any beach in Albania, part of the shore must be in free (public) access.
The government pays special attention to free public beaches. The sea in Albania is accessible to people of any income.
Green Coast Beach is no exception — there are several public beaches here.
Overall, the shore is not crowded, but some people might like just such a place.
Beach Beyond ZUKA Café
From the café to the cape, there is an empty shore stretching about 300 meters.
It is evenly covered with oval stones and boulders.
As I walked along the shore, the landscape reminded me of a cosmic scene.
Summary: the place is good for photo shoots, but not for relaxation.
Edge of the Coastline
The shore ends with a rocky cape.
Here there is a small island of vegetation made of bushes and low trees.
There is also a machine gun bunker that used to guard the shore from a potential enemy invasion.
The coastline beyond the cape looks like this.
How to Get to Green Coast
400 meters after the Llogara tunnel begins the street “Rruget e Bardha” or “White Street.”
You need to get off the bus here and walk down the street to the coast for about 2 km.
Landmark for the turn — Smile Bunker or the laughing bunker.
A smiley face with a big grin is drawn on the yellow bunker.
GALERIA by TEG Shopping Center
The road to Green Coast passes through the shopping center “GALERIA by TEG.”
Near TEG, the road has new asphalt, modern interchanges, and signs.
The complex itself looks unusual against the backdrop of open space and mountain peaks.
What Makes the Beach Unique
Green Coast Beach is a coastline with expensive restaurants.
It is aimed at wealthy residents of the complex and rich travelers.
However, an independent tourist can also use the developed infrastructure.
For example, on the public beach, you can set up your own umbrella for sun protection.
Summary:
A unique place near the Karaburun mountains suitable for relaxation and swimming, including for “wild” (independent) tourists.
