Krorez Beach (Albania) — How to Get There, Is It Worth It & What to Expect
Krorez Beach is one of the most beautiful — and at the same time hard-to-reach — places in southern Albania, not far from Saranda.
This is not your typical resort beach.
People come here for something different:
- crystal-clear Ionian Sea
- mountains right by the shoreline
- a feeling of isolation and untouched nature
👉 The main question most travelers have: how do you get there, and is it worth it?
Let’s break it down.
About Krorez Beach

Krorez Beach is located between Saranda and Himara, near Kakome Bay.
It is completely cut off from roads.
On one side — the sea, on the other — a mountain ridge.
You can only get here:
- by boat (the easiest option)
- or on foot via a scenic mountain trail
The trail starts near the guarded gate before Kakome.
Most people leave their cars along the road before the entrance.
👉 Getting here is already part of the experience.
Krorez Beach Overview

Krorez is actually made up of two beaches:
- the southern beach — more popular
- the northern beach — quieter and more “wild”
They are separated by a small rocky ridge that you can easily walk across.
Key features:
- surface: coarse sand
- coastline: about 1 km in total
- width: 30–40 meters
- water: crystal-clear, light blue with a pearly оттенок
During the season, both beaches offer:
- cafes and bars
- sunbeds and umbrellas
👉 Despite this, the area is not overdeveloped — just mountains and greenery all around.
The Cliff at the End of the Beach

At one end, the beach meets a steep cliff that drops straight into the sea.
In theory, you could try to continue toward Kakome along the coast,
but in reality it’s difficult:
- the cliff is steep
- climbing out of the water is tricky
👉 It’s better to see this as the natural end of the beach, not a walking route.
The Isthmus & Northern Beach

Here you’ll find:
- fewer people
- some rocky areas
- great snorkeling spots
👉 Interesting fact: a hiking trail runs along the top of the mountain ridge across the entire coastline.
Boat Trips from Saranda

From June to September, dozens of boats arrive here daily.
Typical schedule:
- Krorez is visited on the way back
- boats stop for 3–4 hours
- departure back to Saranda around 16:30–17:00
After that, the beach quickly becomes quiet and almost empty.
👉 For most visitors, 3–4 hours is enough to relax, swim, and explore.
Why Krorez Beach Is Worth Visiting

What makes this place special is the combination of factors:
- hard-to-reach — fewer crowds
- clean, untouched nature
- crystal-clear Ionian Sea
- mountains forming a secluded bay
👉 Even locals from Albanian cities come here with their families — a good sign of quality.
