At the top of the cliff, right along the edge, there are trenches connecting abandoned bunkers.

As a result, clay particles in the soil have formed a soft “sand cushion” beneath the beach.

This makes the shoreline right at the water’s edge soft and comfortable for bare feet.

You can sit with your feet in the water or build sandcastles on the beach.

Turquoise Sea by the Cliff

What makes Amar Beach unique is the seabed, composed of coarse sand and fine pebbles.

This combination creates ideal natural conditions — the sea is exceptionally clear.

Moreover, sunlight reflects off the surface, creating pearly shades in the water.

Rocky Islets Near the Shore

Numerous rocky islets rise from the sea along the shore.

These are volcanic rocks and therefore very sharp.

You can climb them — but only with proper footwear.

Important: always wear shoes (don’t walk barefoot on the rocks) to avoid cuts.

You can snorkel around the rocks, exploring the seabed.

Coastal Trekking Over the Rocks

It’s possible to make your way along the coast over the rocks.

You’ll need to climb some sections and squeeze through narrow gaps between stones.

In any case, it’s fun to overcome simple obstacles and enjoy new experiences.

I walked along the coastline, making my way through the rocky shore.

Important: you can reach three different beaches while trekking along the coast.

I recommend wearing flip-flops or water shoes, as the volcanic rocks are sharp on top.

Overnight Stay by the Sea

Adventure seekers will be interested in the idea of camping by the sea in Albania.

It turns out you can pitch your own tent right on the beach and stay there.

There’s just one challenge: you’ll need to carry your tent and gear to the beach and back.

Also, during the high season, many people pass through the area.

Summer in Albania is hot — in July and August, temperatures are around 30°C or higher.

I recommend bringing:

• flip-flops for walking along the shore;

• a sun umbrella if you’re traveling independently;

• a thermally insulated container for food and water;

• water shoes or flip-flops if you plan to climb or dive from rocks.

Caution:

• The coastal rocks are volcanic and have sharp edges that can cause injuries.

• Sea urchins may be found on underwater rocks, although I haven’t seen them at this beach.
