Sarisalltik: A Brief History

Near the city of Kruja, there is a mountain with a Bektashi tekke at its peak. The tekke is called Sarisalltik, named after the Bektashi saint of the same name.

A Tekke is the name of a religious building in the Bektashi faith, where cults and rituals are performed.

A unique highway leads to the mountain’s peak, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surroundings near Kruja.

From the center of Kruja, you can reach the road by following the signs and using coordinates.

Notable Places Along Sarisalltik Road

As you travel along the road (or walk), you will pass by a “trail sign.”

Further along the road, you will see a beautiful landscape with a countryside house.

The scene is perfect: mountains, fresh air, nature, and plenty of open space.

Horizont Restaurant — A Panoramic View

At one of the turns of the road there is a wonderful restaurant called Gorizont.

Everything inside is decorated in accordance with exquisite taste: tables and chairs made of natural oak, white tablecloths, table setting, etc.

In addition, there is a circular terrace along the perimeter outside the building.

Guests can go out and look at the surroundings, take photos and videos.

I ordered coffee, which they usually prepare for guests. The taste was delicate and memorable. The price of the coffee was 60 lek.

Restaurant Horizont has multiple floors and an open summer terrace with tables.

You can visit at any time of the year and enjoy bird’s-eye views of Kruja.

The mountain views, especially near the sharp turns, are mesmerizing.

Each time, the landscape changed — revealing a completely different view of the highway along the cliff.

A tip for drivers: Drive carefully. Some sections of the road are dangerous. Remember that you are traveling next to a precipice.

Panoramic Spots Along Sarisalltik Road

Observation Deck

I want to highlight places where there are “viewing points” on the edge of the road, offering a wider perspective.

One such spot has a rock in the center, with a red-painted heart on it, located right at a turn.

The area is not fenced.

Standing there gives an incredible feeling of responsibility for yourself and your life.

The immense height of the abyss is so close that it takes your breath away.

Car Parking Near the Cliff

Another spot I want to mention is the “parking lot near the abyss.”

I noticed that people come here specifically, stop for a while, and then return to Kruja.

The mountain panorama from here is, of course, stunning.

I also walked around this parking area — the sensations… are indescribable.

Words cannot convey these feelings — they are overwhelming due to the intensity of emotions.

Attention! The distance between these two viewing platforms is about 20 meters. They are close to each other.

A Beautiful View of the Road

Perhaps you haven’t had enough beauty yet.

In that case, just look at the photos I took along the road.

I was completely happy while walking along this road.

It is no coincidence that the Bektashi chose this place — it is truly sacred.

There is an abundance of aesthetic and natural (pure) beauty here.

The immense open space has a unique effect on any person.

I personally felt this effect — an inexplicable joy and excitement inside from what I saw.

What to recommend:

• Choose a sunny, warm day for the route: it will be more comfortable, and the impressions will last longer in your memory.
• Visit Horizont restaurant.
• Stop by the car parking lot at the “cliff spot.”
• Walk to the panoramic point (just 30 meters from the parking lot) and enjoy the surroundings.

There will be plenty of emotions and impressions!

Tips for Tourists

What I can advise:

• Follow the safety rules: do not go close to the edge of the cliff at panoramic points.
• Good photos will be taken in the morning, when the sun is shining on your back while climbing up the mountain.
• After lunch, you will take great photos while descending the mountain.
