Santa Quaranta Beach in Saranda: Prices, How to Get There & Honest Review (2026)
Santa Quaranta Beach is one of the most comfortable seaside resorts in southern Albania. Located just outside the center of Saranda, this beach complex offers calm seawater, palm-lined walkways, restaurant service and family-friendly facilities. It is often perceived as a private hotel beach, but in reality it is open to all visitors.
I visited the Santa Quaranta coastline on June 16, 2026. During my stay, I explored the full area, checked transport options from Saranda, took photos and tested the actual beach conditions in real time.
This review will help you understand prices, access rules and whether this place is worth visiting during your trip to the Albanian Riviera.
Where is Santa Quaranta Beach Located

The beach complex is situated on the main coastal road between Saranda and Ksamil.
📍 Coordinates:
- Santa Quaranta Beach area — 39.8519, 20.0208
- Main entrance & Parking — 39.8515, 20.0212
This location is easy to reach both by public transport and by car. Many travelers combine it with nearby Ksamil beaches or Butrint National Park.
How to Get There from Saranda
You can get there by car or bus along the coastal road. The bus makes stops on request. Just tell the conductor or driver, and they’ll let you off.
Entrance to the Santa Quaranta complex

The most affordable option is the local bus running along the Saranda–Ksamil–Butrint route.
During my visit, the fare from Saranda city center to the beach area was 200 Lek (around €2).
Returning to Saranda by bus

However, there is an important detail for return travel.
To go back to Saranda, you need to walk up to the parallel road where buses return from Ksamil toward the city. This is a common practice along the Albanian Riviera.
⚠️ It’s important to take the other road, which is higher up the mountain.
On the return trip, I paid only 100 Lek, as the conductor considered this stop already part of Saranda’s urban zone. Pricing can vary depending on the driver.
For comparison, a full route ticket to Butrint costs around 250 Lek.
If you want more flexibility when exploring beaches like Ksamil, Mirror Beach, or hidden coves along the coast, renting a car is a better option.

Santa Quaranta Beach Prices and Access

One of the advantages of this seaside resort is that it is not restricted only to hotel guests.
Anyone can enter the beach area by paying for sunbeds.
Standard prices during my visit:
• Umbrella + 2 sunbeds — 1,500 Lek (~€15)
After payment, visitors can use the full beachfront infrastructure, including walkways, swimming zones, bar service and restaurant.
Why This Place Feels Different

Unlike open beaches exposed directly to waves, this coastal area is designed as a protected seawater lagoon.
Three sides are enclosed by land, while the fourth side opens toward the Ionian Sea with a buoy line marking the swimming zone.
This structure creates significantly calmer water conditions compared to nearby public beaches.
Even on windy days, the water inside remains relatively stable, which is why this location is popular among families with children.
Swimming Conditions and Layout

The entire coastline is organized with easy water access points.
You will find:
- stone stair entries into the sea
- safety railings
- multiple swimming entrances along the perimeter
- walking paths along the waterfront
One side of the lagoon offers continuous stepped access almost along the entire shoreline.
The opposite side includes elevated platforms with sunbeds close to the beach bar and restaurant area.
Everything is designed for comfortable all-day use.
Atmosphere and Landscape Design

This beach resort has a more structured and landscaped appearance compared to typical Saranda beaches.
Palm trees line the walking paths, and decorative flowering plants add color to the promenade areas.
The overall impression is closer to a resort beach club rather than a public shoreline.
It is also one of the more photogenic places in the region, especially in the morning when the water is completely still.
Family-Friendly Facilities

The area includes a well-developed playground suitable for children of different ages.
Facilities include:
- climbing structures
- swings and slides
- balance and rotation equipment
- active play zones
There is also a shallow water entry zone with small pebbles where children can safely enter the sea.
This makes the location suitable for families who want a controlled and safe swimming environment.
Food and Beach Service

A beach bar and restaurant operate throughout the day.
Visitors can stay on-site without needing to leave for meals or drinks.
This is especially convenient for full-day stays, as everything is within walking distance.
